A day out at the NFR

WH on April 30th, 2008

Going to the rodeo is not something most people think about -it’s not the most popular spectator sport in the United States but if it’s available in your area, it can be a real fun outing for the whole family.
The National Finals Rodeo is the highlight of the rodeo season and is the last event of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association season. Sometimes it is also known as the World Series of Rodeo or the Super Bowl of Rodeo. The first National Finals Rodeo was held in 1959 in Dallas but right now, it is held in the first week of December every year at the Thomas and Mack Center of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
The event include bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, bull riding and barrel racing. Barrel racing is the only event in which only women can participate. Eight world champions are crowned in these events at the end of the National Finals Rodeo.Large amounts of money are awarded during the championship so it is very competitive.
NFR Tickets are usually sold out for all the events in the championship so casino owners in the area usually have big parties so that people who don’t manage to get tickets can still have some fun.
I would love to take the kids to see that real people actually do these things and not only in cowboy films.

If you take a closer look, you may find that what you’re watching isn’t […]
