Start exercising gradually
I think the title of this post just says it all. If you’re starting an exercise program, especially if you haven’t exercised for some time, start gradually. If you’re trying to lose weight, remember that it took you months if not years to put on the weight. There’s no magic wand or revolutionary exercise program that’s going to make the weight drop off in one week.
So here’s where I take my own advice. My new elliptical trainer keeps calling me - literally. Whenever I walk past it, I feel an almost irresistible urge to jump on the thing and start “peddling”. Well, I’ll have to slow down because I’ve developed a pain in my right hip joint that comes as an intermittent twinge when I put weight on that side.
Doctors are better at giving advice than taking it. So, “physician heal thyself!”
