Having your own house is very high on most people’s list of priorities. It offers a sense of security and well-being, like you’ve achieved something wonderful. Unfortunately, the vast majority of us are never going to own our own house without getting a Mortgage.
Many young people are saving up so that they can make a down payment on a house of their own. One thing they need to do is to be practical. Research carried out by estate agents suggests that first-time buyers will get more value for money if they buy a house outside London and commute if they work in London. This is really sound advice as far as I’m concerned because house prices in London are really scary. After all, most people don’t live in their first house for the rest of their lives. I think it’s worth making that sacrifice, as a first time buyer, to get a foot on the property ladder.
