Taking exams

WH on February 27th, 2008

I’m sitting for the IELTS exams in a few days in Lagos. For those of you that don’t know, this is used to assess your proficiency in written and spoken English. I’m taking the academic module.

Now I have to say that my English is pretty good and I don’t have any trouble making myself understood (I hope!), but an exam is still an exam. Even though I’ve taken loads of them in my lifetime, I can’t help being slightly nervous. That said, I should be poring over my practice materials instead of typing up a blog post. Well, life goes on, exams or no exams. I think I’ll take some hours tomorrow when the kids have gone to school to concentrate on studying.

Someone’s supposed to come and fit my curtains tomorrow so I think I may put that on hold till I come back, that way I can concentrate and make sure I get things the way I want them. Then I can concentrate on losing some weight as well. I look like a balloon sometimes depending on which mirror I look in. Unfortunately, my bathroom scales keep telling me the same sad story. I need some grace to get serious about this.
